Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a cash reward of Rs10,000 each for 184,000 workers involved in the “Suthra Punjab” cleanliness campaign following the successful Eid-ul-Adha sanitation operation across the province.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq praised the efforts of sanitation workers who continued their duties despite extreme heat conditions.

He said the workers cleaned more than 60,000 mosques, hundreds of Eid grounds, and graveyards across Punjab.

According to officials, only 200 violations related to the disposal of animal waste at prohibited locations were reported during Eid.

The minister added that ration cards for sanitation workers are also being issued, and the process will be completed soon.

He noted that the “Suthra Punjab” campaign received widespread appreciation from citizens and remained a trending topic on social media throughout Eid.

Officials reported that 184,000 workers operated continuously for 72 hours, supported by 40,000 machinery units, 12,000 loader rickshaws, and pickup vehicles.

More than 7,000 machines were used to clear temporary waste collection points.

The province established 4,500 Eid camps and 7,000 waste collection camps, while special cleaning teams were deployed at 1,278 collective sacrificial sites.

Authorities also distributed 12 million eco-friendly waste bags free of charge.

According to the government, more than 365,000 tons of animal waste were disposed of during the three-day Eid operation, including 125,000 tons on the first day, 112,000 tons on the second day, and over 70,000 tons on the third day.

More than 41,000 citizens contacted the government through the 1139 helpline and mobile application during the operation.

The minister also paid tribute to commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, and field staff for ensuring the campaign’s success.
