The Punjab government has extended the enforcement of Section 144 across the province for another 30 days, continuing a complete ban on the use of drones in open spaces due to security concerns.
According to a Home Department notification, the restriction on outdoor drone usage will remain in effect until May 25. Authorities imposed the extension to maintain public safety, protect sensitive installations, and prevent potential security threats.
Under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, officials have prohibited drone flying in all outdoor areas across Punjab. The government emphasized that the measure is necessary to ensure law and order amid the prevailing security situation.
However, authorities have allowed limited indoor use of small drones. Event organizers can operate drones داخل halls and marquees during functions, provided they strictly follow safety protocols. Officials have placed full responsibility for safe usage on organizers.
The ban does not apply to intelligence agencies and law enforcement bodies, which can continue using drones for official operations and security monitoring.
The Home Department has directed district administrations and پولیس to strictly enforce the order. Violators may face legal action, including FIR registration and arrests.
Officials said the decision prioritizes public safety as drone usage continues to grow in commercial and recreational sectors.
