Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to ensure the installation of fire safety systems in all government hospitals across the province.
Following her instructions, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir sought detailed reports from government hospitals regarding their existing fire safety arrangements.
He said the installation of fire safety systems would be ensured at all costs and added that work had also begun on installing fire hydrants at hospitals.
On his directions, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rehman, along with Rescue officials, visited several government hospitals to inspect their fire safety arrangements.
During the inspections, officials reviewed the availability and functionality of fire alarms, hydrants and emergency exits.
Nadeem Nasir said the safety of patients and hospital staff was the administration’s top priority and stressed that negligence would not be tolerated.
He directed the relevant officials to immediately remove shortcomings in fire safety arrangements and complete all necessary measures to ensure effective emergency preparedness at government hospitals.
