Vivo and Honor are reportedly working on wider foldable phones, which could bring more competition to Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

The latest claims come from tipsters on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Smart Pikachu reportedly claimed that Vivo is working on a wide foldable phone, possibly linked to the Vivo X Fold 6, with a focus on users who prefer larger foldable designs.

These foldables may even release ahead of Samsung and Apple’s rumored devices.

The Vivo device may also bring a major improvement to the display crease, according to the tipster .

That would be an important upgrade for foldable phones, where crease visibility remains one of the main design concerns. However, Vivo has not confirmed the device or its specifications.

Separate leaks have also pointed to the Vivo X Fold 6 getting a strong camera setup, with earlier rumors mentioning a possible 200MP camera and a large battery.

Honor is also reportedly preparing a wide foldable phone. Tipster Guan Tongxue claimed that Honor is moving toward the same foldable design category, although the launch timeline remains unclear. Other rumors suggest Honor could introduce its wide foldable in Q1 2027.

The Honor model may also feature a triple camera setup, but no official details have been announced.

Samsung has also been linked to a wider foldable version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Leaks have suggested that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, with earlier reports pointing to wider display proportions and One UI 9 related animations. The device could give Samsung a foldable design that feels less narrow than its current Fold models.

However, the camera setup may be less ambitious than expected. Recent reports claim the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may use a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera with 8K recording support, but no telephoto lens.

That could separate it from the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is expected to offer stronger camera hardware.

The wider foldable design appears to be gaining momentum as more brands explore alternatives to tall and narrow foldable phones.

The trend is still based mostly on leaks and early reports, so the final designs, specifications, and launch schedules may change. For now, Samsung, Vivo, and Honor all appear to be moving toward a new round of competition in the foldable market.
