Xiaomi appears to be preparing its own hardware-controlled privacy display for upcoming flagship smartphones, following Samsung’s introduction of the technology with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
A leaked interface for Xiaomi’s Smart Privacy Display has now surfaced, reportedly recorded from a global ROM. The leak shows smart features for the privacy display, such as the ability to hide content automatically when needed.
The leaked interface shows that users will be able to create different groups and assign specific apps to each one. This should allow separate privacy display settings depending on which apps are being used.
More importantly, Xiaomi appears to be adding automatic privacy protection for sensitive content.
Users can configure the phone to automatically activate the privacy display when viewing pages involving passwords, payments, money transfers, and messaging.

This could prevent people viewing the screen from the side from seeing sensitive information.
Samsung introduced the first built-in hardware-controlled privacy display on a smartphone with the Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year.
Xiaomi’s implementation suggests the technology may soon become available beyond Samsung’s highest-end flagship.
The Smart Privacy Display is expected to appear on an upcoming Xiaomi flagship, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max currently considered the most likely candidates.
The feature was first rumored for the Xiaomi 18 Pro in June. The newly leaked interface now provides a clearer look at how Xiaomi plans to implement it.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
Both phones are also expected to retain the secondary rear displays introduced on their predecessors, with reports suggesting Xiaomi could make those screens even larger this generation.
