The Punjab government has exempted shops, markets, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, and food outlets across the province from prescribed closure timings until June 1, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), the decision was taken in continuation of an earlier notification issued on April 6, 2026.
Under the latest notification, the businesses mentioned will not be subject to the mandatory closure timings previously imposed by the provincial government.
Last month, the Punjab government had notified that shops, markets, and shopping malls would close at 8pm throughout the week under austerity and energy conservation measures. Hotels, restaurants, and food outlets had also been directed to close at 10pm, although takeaway and home delivery services remained exempt.
Pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, bakeries, tandoors, and milk shops were already excluded from the earlier closure restrictions. The latest notification was issued by the Implementation and Coordination Wing of the S&GAD.
