Lahore is set to begin the licensing process for kite-related businesses next week as preparations for Basant 2027 move forward.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, where the Deputy Commissioner Lahore briefed her on the arrangements being made for the festival.
Maryam Aurangzeb said the district administration has completed preparations for the Basant Portal, which will become operational next week.
In the first phase, the portal will accept applications from kite manufacturers. Manufacturing will only be permitted after the required licenses have been issued.
The licensing process will also cover kite sellers and string manufacturers as part of the government’s preparations for Basant. Permission for kite-string manufacturing is intended to ensure its uninterrupted availability during the festival.
Maryam Aurangzeb will announce the final date for the launch of the Basant Portal and the commencement of kite manufacturing.
