The Punjab government has approved hefty salaries and incentives for officers appointed to the Murree Glass Train project, according to a report.

As per the approved package, the project director will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 2.2 million, while the chief engineer will be paid Rs. 1.2 million per month.

Directors working on the project will get a monthly package of Rs. 1 million. Deputy directors will receive Rs. 700,000, whereas assistant directors will be paid Rs. 400,000 per month.

In addition to these salaries, officers posted to the project on deputation will also be eligible for special allowances.

It has been recommended that the project director on deputation receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 700,000, while the chief engineer be given Rs. 500,000. Directors serving on deputation have been recommended for an allowance of Rs. 350,000 per month.

However, the Finance Department has raised objections to the proposed project allowances.

According to official documents, project allowances were abolished in 2018. The government later introduced the Incentive Allowance Policy in 2019.

Under the policy, incentive allowances are currently being provided to officers posted in policy units, authorities, and various government projects.
