Honor has officially launched the Robot Phone in China, months after first teasing it during the Magic8 series unveiling last October. Since then, the device has appeared in several leaks and teasers, while an early prototype was also shown at CES.

The Robot Phone combines flagship Android hardware with a motorized gimbal camera mounted on its back that can be controlled with voice commands and has AI auto-tracking.

The Honor Robot Phone uses a titanium gimbal system that requires more than 60 manufacturing processes and incorporates over 100 precision components. The device is backed by more than 100 patents.

Honor claims it has the industry’s smallest titanium gimbal system and says the mechanism is 65% smaller than conventional gimbals such as those used in DJI’s Osmo Pocket series. The company also describes it as the industry’s smallest 4D gimbal system.

Its titanium gimbal motor weighs just 2.6g and measures 6mm thick. Honor has managed to fit the entire mechanism inside a phone measuring 9.6mm thick. The device weighs 248g.

The Robot Phone has a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2,640 × 1,216 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Local peak brightness reaches 6,800 nits, while Honor has also applied an AR anti-reflective coating to reduce glare.

The phone is available in Silver and Gray.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the Honor Robot Phone, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

It runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.

Honor has also integrated its Yoyo AI assistant with the robotic gimbal. The system can observe and interact with the surrounding environment and perform tasks independently.

The gimbal can display more than 100 different expressions and movements, including nodding, peeking, and dancing along with music.

The main attraction is the motorized gimbal camera, which uses a 200MP 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture. It supports video recording at up to 4K and works alongside Honor’s H1 imaging chip.

Users can control the gimbal through voice commands, including asking it to turn around or focus on a particular point.

AI subject tracking provides real-time automatic framing and tracking during vlogging, livestreaming, and video calls.

The Robot Phone is also the first device to come from Honor’s partnership with German cinema equipment company ARRI. It supports native Log-C3 video encoding, on-device LUT color grading, and a dedicated cinema mode designed to reproduce the visual characteristics of ARRI cinema cameras.

Alongside the gimbal camera, the phone has another 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom.

A 50MP ultrawide camera completes the rear camera setup and can also be used for macro photography.

The Honor Robot Phone packs a 7,060 mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant costs $1,482, while the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage version is priced at $1,927.

Honor has not confirmed whether the Robot Phone will launch in other markets, and it may remain limited to China.
