The federal government has announced a public holiday on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

The Cabinet Division issued an official notification on Friday, August 21, confirming the holiday.

According to the notification, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved August 26 as a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH).

The decision comes in continuation of the Cabinet Division’s earlier circular regarding public and optional holidays for 2026.

The government has also directed that the notification receive wide publicity through major English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media.

As a result, August 26 will be observed as a public holiday across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
