The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal was not sighted in Pakistan, and the first day of the Islamic month will fall on Saturday, August 15.
The announcement came after a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Islamabad, chaired by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
Representatives from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Ministry of Science and Technology and other relevant institutions also attended the meeting and provided technical assistance during the moon sighting process.
The committee examined reports and testimonies received from different parts of the country. After reviewing the evidence, it confirmed that no credible moon sighting had been reported.
Accordingly, Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH will begin on Saturday, August 15. The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal will consequently fall on Wednesday, August 26. Muslims across Pakistan will observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) on that day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
