The Capital Development Authority and the district administration launched an emergency drainage and dewatering operation across Islamabad on Tuesday after heavy rainfall caused waterlogging in several areas.
The operation was focused particularly on Sector E-11, Ghouri Town and other low-lying localities.
Special teams and dewatering machinery were deployed at underpasses, interchanges, major roads and other vulnerable points. Drains and waterways were also being cleared to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater.
CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf, along with Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, visited E-11, Ghouri Town and other areas to review drainage, traffic management and emergency arrangements.
Ashraf directed officials to use all available resources, keep sensitive areas under constant monitoring and ensure the immediate drainage of accumulated water.
Joint teams of the CDA, MCI, Emergency and Disaster Management and the district administration remained in the field.
The administration advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from low-lying and waterlogged areas during heavy rain.
