The federal government has shared a progress update on the first phase of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Program, revealing strong public response to the electric bike and rickshaw subsidy scheme.
According to official documents submitted to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), the government received 269,149 applications against the first-phase target of 41,000 electric vehicles, including 40,000 electric bikes and 1,000 electric rickshaws and loaders.
An electronic balloting process was conducted on October 1, 2025, after which 41,000 applicants were declared successful while the remaining applicants were placed on a waiting list.
The document states that under the bank-lease scheme, 44,689 applications were forwarded to partner banks. So far, banks have processed 9,889 applications, approving 4,075 loans worth Rs. 142.79 million.
Under the self-finance category, 1,334 out of 1,339 applicants have already received electric bikes, while 1,033 beneficiaries have received subsidy payments in their accounts. Officials said the process of vehicle delivery and subsidy disbursement for remaining successful applicants is nearing completion.
