Asus has launched the new Asus Pad , marking its return to the mainstream tablet market after several years. The launch comes months after the company shifted away from new smartphone development, with 9to5Google reporting in January that Asus would no longer make new Android smartphones as it focused more on AI-related products.

The Asus Pad features a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with a 2800 x 1840 resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 144Hz refresh rate, according to Asus.

The tandem OLED panel uses two OLED emission layers, which help improve brightness, power efficiency, and panel life compared with regular OLED screens.

The display covers 100% of the DCI P3 color gamut and reaches 600 nits of typical brightness.

Despite its large screen, the tablet is 6.5mm thick and weighs 523 grams. Asus has used a magnesium chassis with a fiberglass back cover.

The tablet runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 chipset, which is built on a 4nm process. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Asus has also included a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 1TB.

On the software side, the Asus Pad ships with Android 16. It includes Circle to Search with Google, Gemini integration, and Asus GlideX for screen sharing, file transfers, and cross-device workflows.

The tablet also supports Asus Pen 2.0 for writing and drawing, along with Bluetooth keyboard connectivity for productivity use. Connectivity options include Wi Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The tablet also supports Face Login.

The Asus Pad has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

For media use, Asus has added a quad speaker system with Dolby Atmos support. The company lists the speaker setup as four 8-ohm, 1-watt speakers.

The Asus Pad packs a 9,000mAh battery and supports 45W USB-C charging through PD 3.0.

Asus says the battery can charge from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes.

Asus has not shared pricing details for the Asus Pad yet.

The official specification sheet lists 128GB and 256GB storage options, but regional availability and market-specific pricing have not been announced.
