Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max globally, bringing significantly larger batteries, Snapdragon 6-series processors, and upgraded durability.
The global models differ from their Chinese counterparts in several areas. Prices start at $399 for the Redmi Note 17 Pro and $499 for the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.
Both phones feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 2772 × 1280 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 12-bit colors and up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness.
Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the displays.
Both models also feature Xiaomi’s REDMI Titan Structure and carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings in supported markets. Xiaomi says they have been tested to survive immersion at a depth of 2 meters for up to 72 hours and drops from as high as 3 meters under laboratory conditions.
The Note 17 Pro weighs 223g and measures 8.6mm thick. The Pro Max is similarly sized despite its much larger battery.
The Pro comes in Sky Blue, Satin Orange, Purple and Black, while the Pro Max is offered in Cloud Blush, Green, Purple and Black. Cloud Blush features a photochromic finish that changes appearance under sunlight.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, while the Pro Max upgrades to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
The Pro comes with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Its 128GB version uses UFS 2.2, while the larger configurations use UFS 3.1.
The Pro Max offers up to 12GB of RAM, with higher-storage variants using faster UFS 4.1 storage.
Both phones launch with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and are promised six years of security updates.
The Pro Max also gets Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 6.0, while the Pro supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. Both include NFC, dual-SIM support with an eSIM option and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Xiaomi has moved away from the 200MP cameras used on recent Redmi Note Pro generations.
Both phones instead feature a 50MP main camera with OIS alongside an 8MP ultrawide camera.
The Pro Max gets the better main camera hardware, with larger 0.8µm pixels and a brighter f/1.5 aperture, compared with 0.64µm pixels and an f/1.8 aperture on the Pro.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro has a 16MP selfie camera, while the Pro Max upgrades to a 32MP front camera with 4K video recording.
Battery capacity is the biggest upgrade this generation.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro packs an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W HyperCharge and 22.5W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi claims up to 28 hours of video playback, while a 50% charge takes around 34 minutes.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max goes considerably further with a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery in many global markets, the largest battery Xiaomi has used in a smartphone so far.
Some regions, including parts of Europe and Australia, receive a 9,210mAh version instead.
The Pro Max supports 100W HyperCharge and up to 27W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi claims up to three days of use and says 20 minutes of charging can provide enough power for a full day.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at $399, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max starts at $499. Exact configurations, battery capacities and availability vary depending on the market.
