Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the construction of two new six-lane motorway sections in Punjab as the government moves to expand the country’s motorway network. The minister ordered that the Sialkot-Kharian and Kharian-Rawalpindi sections be developed as six-lane motorways. The directives were issued during a review meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA), attended by senior officials including the communications secretary and the NHA chairman.

During the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the importance of improving transport infrastructure and accelerating progress on major highway projects. He also directed authorities to maintain strict technical standards and ensure complete accuracy in feasibility studies for all ongoing and upcoming NHA schemes.

The minister further expressed displeasure over delays in multiple infrastructure projects and said timely completion of national transport projects remained a top priority.
