Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth has directed field formations to complete 82 additional roads under the Local Road Program by September 7.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting attended by Secretary Communications and Works Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries and other senior officials. Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Executive Engineers (XENs) participated online.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Local Road Program across the North, Central and South regions. Officials briefed the meeting on signboard installation, lane marking and beautification work on completed roads.
Bharth directed Chief Engineers to complete 26 roads in the South, 33 in the North and 23 in the Central region by September 7. He also ordered the immediate filling of vacant positions in field formations.
The minister directed officials to inspect the shoulders of roads built since 2024 and repair damaged sections within 10 days. He also ordered daily field visits to monitor road conditions and project progress. Bharth further directed officials to continue road repairs after the monsoon to ensure lasting improvements to Punjab’s road network.
