Warner Bros. Discovery has officially confirmed that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is in development, marking the first time the company has publicly acknowledged the next installment in the series.
The confirmation appeared in Warner Bros. Discovery’s second-quarter 2026 shareholder letter, ending years of speculation fueled by rumors and job listings linked to developer Avalanche.
Warner Bros. Discovery said gaming remains an important part of its long-term growth plans for its Studios business.
The company pointed to its recently refocused gaming strategy, which centers investment around four major franchises worth more than $1 billion each while focusing on fewer projects that it considers higher-confidence releases.
During the second quarter, Warner Bros. released LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight , which it described as the highest-rated LEGO game ever, alongside Game of Thrones: Dragonfire , its second mobile title based on the Game of Thrones franchise.
Warner Bros. then said it expects its Games business to make a larger contribution to profitability as its upcoming lineup expands, specifically naming “ the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy .”
Beyond confirming its existence, Warner Bros. did not reveal any additional information about the Hogwarts Legacy sequel.
There is currently no announced release date, launch window, gameplay information, or confirmed list of platforms for the second installment. The shareholder letter also does not reveal how the sequel will change or expand upon the original game.
The original Hogwarts Legacy , developed by Avalanche, was released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch consoles.
For now, the shareholder letter provides only the official confirmation that another Hogwarts Legacy game is part of Warner Bros.’ future gaming pipeline.
