Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally arriving in November 2026, but fans expecting an online multiplayer mode at launch may have to wait years.
Rockstar Games has yet to announce GTA 6 Online, and current expectations suggest the multiplayer experience could arrive one or even two years after the main game, reported Forbes.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. Unlike GTA 5, however, Rockstar has not announced an Online mode for the sequel or provided a release window for it.
That means players could get the highly anticipated game in November and still have no GTA 6 Online for a significant period.
The situation is very different from GTA 5. Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto 5 on September 17, 2013, and GTA Online followed just two weeks later on October 1.
Rockstar has remained focused on completing GTA 6, which has already taken more than a decade to reach release and has faced multiple delays. The company is also unlikely to risk rushing its next major multiplayer platform while the core game is still being polished.
There is another major reason for the delay: GTA Online is still generating enormous revenue.
The multiplayer mode has remained active for more than a decade, supported by regular updates and in-game purchases. The writer plays. Its continued success gives Rockstar little reason to abandon the existing online ecosystem for a new one immediately.
Scarily enough, GTA 6 Online is likely being treated as a separate long-term transition rather than a launch-day feature.
For players, the immediate reality is much simpler: GTA 6 may launch in November with its single-player experience, while the wait for GTA 6 Online could stretch well into the following years.
Rockstar has not officially confirmed that GTA 6 Online will take one or two years to launch. The timeline remains speculation based on the company’s silence and the current superstitious nature of gamers.
