Grand Theft Auto VI could feature an in-game currency system that allows players to exchange virtual money for real-world cash, according to a leaker known as Cyberleek.
The claim emerged on August 19, 2026, alongside a series of alleged GTA 6 gameplay videos and map images attributed to the same source. However, Rockstar Games has not confirmed the authenticity of the leaked material or said anything about a real-money currency exchange system.
That makes the claim difficult to verify, particularly because Cyberleek has a financial interest in the attention generated by the leaks.
The leaked footage reportedly comes from an early build featuring a protagonist named Jason Duval.
Among the systems shown is a dual-currency setup. It separates the cash carried by the player from money stored in a bank account.
The game also reportedly increases the maximum wanted level to six stars. That would be one level higher than the five-star limit in Grand Theft Auto V .
Police interactions appear to have been expanded as well. Characters can reportedly recognize players more accurately, while players can disguise themselves or surrender during police chases.
Combat also appears more grounded. Stamina decreases during prolonged fights, while non-lethal weapons such as tasers are reportedly available.
A new detection meter is also said to show how aware police officers are of the player’s presence during stealth gameplay.
Vehicles reportedly feature several new systems. Cars can have trunk inventories and fuel gauges, while players have multiple ways to hotwire and steal vehicles.
The leaks also show a basketball mini-game with its own progression system.
Another batch of alleged material was scheduled to appear on August 20 at 5 AM PKT. Reports suggested it would include more gameplay footage showing environmental interactions and police behavior.
The most notable claim is the alleged ability to convert the game’s currency into real money.
If genuine, such a system would be significant for the gaming industry and particularly relevant to the Web3 gaming sector, which has long promoted the idea of allowing players to give real-world value to digital assets.
However, there is currently no official evidence that GTA 6 will include such a feature.
The claim comes from an anonymous source, and Rockstar has not backed it. That leaves open questions about whether the alleged currency system is actually part of the game.
The credibility questions became more complicated after Cyberleek launched a Solana-based memecoin called CYBERLEEK on August 18, 2026.
The token reportedly reached about $11.8 million in trading volume after launch. Its market capitalization was around $1.73 million.
Cyberleek has described the leaks as part of a digital rights campaign. The source has criticized preorder culture and called for greater transparency from game publishers.
However, Stop Killing Games rejected that explanation. The group said the reason behind the GTA 6 leaks was Cyberleek’s memecoin, arguing that the situation was “all but helpful.”
Analysts have also raised concerns about the project and described it as potentially deceptive.
The connection between the leaks and the cryptocurrency therefore adds another layer of uncertainty to the claims.
Rockstar has not confirmed that the leaked files are genuine. However, the company has issued DMCA takedown notices against posts sharing the material.
The takedowns indicate that Rockstar is treating the circulated content as a copyright issue. They do not confirm the accuracy of the information contained in the leaks.
For now, the alleged real-money exchange system remains unverified.
The upcoming GTA 6 gameplay reveal on Netflix, scheduled for August 27, 2026, could provide clearer information about the game’s economy and other gameplay systems.
Until then, claims about converting GTA 6 currency into real-world money should be treated with caution.
