The United States Air Force has awarded a $488 million contract to Northrop Grumman for long-term engineering and technical support of F-16 radar systems, with Pakistan among the countries covered under the deal.
According to the official award notice, the contract covers support for the APG-66 and APG-68 radar systems used on F-16 fighter jets. The work will be carried out in Maryland and is scheduled to continue until March 31, 2036.
The agreement includes multiple countries under the US Foreign Military Sales program, with Pakistan listed alongside several other American partner and allied air forces operating F-16 aircraft.
The latest contract highlights continued US support for sustaining the operational readiness of F-16 fleets across partner countries, including Pakistan, which still relies on the aircraft as an important part of its air power capability.
The development follows another major US move related to Pakistan’s F-16 program. In December 2025, American authorities notified Congress of a proposed $686 million package aimed at upgrading and supporting Pakistan’s F-16 fleet.
That proposed package includes Link-16 tactical data systems, cryptographic equipment, avionics improvements, training and logistics support. It also covers changes to flight programs, friend-or-foe systems, navigation tools, secure communications equipment, simulators, software updates and engineering support.
US officials had said the package was intended to improve interoperability between Pakistan, the United States and partner forces, particularly for counterterrorism cooperation and future operational requirements.
The proposed upgrade plan is also designed to modernize Pakistan’s F-16 fleet and extend its service life through 2040, while addressing safety, avionics and maintenance needs.
