The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has announced that the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 Hijri will be held on May 17 in Karachi.

According to an official press release, the meeting will take place at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi on the evening of Sunday, corresponding to 29 Ziqaad 1447 Hijri.

The ministry said meetings of zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees would also be held at their respective headquarters on the same date and time.

Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad will announce the final decision regarding moon sighting based on information received from across the country. The announcement will determine the expected date of Eid ul Adha in Pakistan.

If the Dhul-Hijjah moon is sighted on May 17, Eid ul Adha in Pakistan will be observed on Wednesday, May 27. However, if the moon is not sighted on May 17, Eid ul Adha will fall on Thursday, May 28.
