The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a digital service that allows employers to obtain new work permits for workers recruited from abroad, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The service is available to establishments registered with the ministry and is aimed at simplifying the process of hiring employees from outside the UAE.
Employers can complete the application process electronically by submitting the required information and documents through MoHRE’s digital channels.
Under UAE labor regulations, the work permit is specifically designed for registered establishments seeking to recruit and employ workers from overseas in accordance with approved procedures.
MoHRE said the initiative is part of its wider efforts to streamline employment procedures and provide businesses with more efficient digital options for recruiting talent from international markets.
Employers are responsible for covering the recruitment costs associated with bringing workers from their home countries. They must also pay applicable government employment fees, insurance, contributions, and guarantees required under UAE law.
The digital service also supports the UAE’s broader push to digitize government services and reduce the time and administrative steps involved in completing employment procedures.
