Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Friday issued a public safety advisory amid heavy rainfall in the federal capital, urging motorists to exercise extra caution, avoid waterlogged roads and cooperate with traffic officials, while confirming that traffic continued to flow smoothly across the city.
An ITP official told APP that Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Kainat Azhar Khan was personally monitoring the traffic situation across Islamabad to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow despite the ongoing rain.
Traffic police officers had been deployed at key roads and intersections to regulate traffic and provide assistance to commuters wherever required.
He urged motorists not to stop beneath underpasses or create unnecessary congestion, and advised them to avoid driving cars or riding motorcycles through heavily waterlogged areas.
The official further advised road users to drive at a reduced speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and use indicators and headlights where necessary to ensure safe travel during the rainy weather.
He said citizens could contact the Pucar-15 emergency helpline in case of any emergency and follow the official Islamabad Police social media platforms for the latest traffic updates and travel advisories.
