The Punjab government has decided to replace temporary Sahulat Bazaars with permanent markets to provide essential commodities to citizens at affordable prices.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Punjab Sahulat Bazaars Authority, chaired by Authority Chairperson Muhammad Afzal Khokhar.
The meeting reviewed several matters related to the authority, including plans to establish new Sahulat Bazaars and expand their coverage across the province. Authority members and senior officials also attended the meeting.
Officials briefed the meeting on plans to expand the network of Sahulat Bazaars and improve public access to subsidized and reasonably priced essential items.
Under the new plan, 150 permanent Sahulat Bazaars will be established at the tehsil level across Punjab before Ramadan.
Each tehsil will have both a Sahulat Bazaar and a Sahulat-in-the-Go market, according to the plan.
The government said expanding the network would allow more citizens to benefit from the initiative and improve access to essential commodities.
The authority also reviewed other measures aimed at providing relief to consumers and strengthening the operation and reach of Sahulat Bazaars across the province.
