The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a special surveillance operation at cattle markets across Lahore and other cities of Punjab ahead of Eid al-Adha to strengthen security for traders and buyers.
Authorities said portable facial recognition cameras, drones, and AI-based monitoring systems are being used to keep cattle markets and surrounding areas under constant surveillance.
SP Safe Cities Muhammad Zulfiqar said that 24-hour virtual patrolling was being conducted from the Safe City headquarters to monitor cattle markets and nearby locations.
He added that additional portable 4G cameras were being installed at cattle markets to further improve security arrangements. Field forces are being alerted immediately in case of any suspicious activity.
Officials said the authority was also identifying illegal cattle markets and unauthorised sale points and informing the relevant departments of action.
Muhammad Zulfiqar said Safe City drones were also monitoring traffic flow and management around cattle markets to prevent congestion and maintain order.
According to the PSCA, advanced AI-based technology and facial recognition systems are being used to closely monitor the movement of suspicious individuals.
Officials said the use of Safe City cameras, drones, and AI surveillance systems has further strengthened and integrated security arrangements across Punjab during the Eid al-Adha season.
