Inspector General of Pakistan Railways Police Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan has ordered officers to take strict action against groups occupying railway land and cargo companies allegedly involved in smuggling illegal goods through trains.
The directives came during a meeting of all Superintendents of Police (SPs) at the Central Police Office in Lahore. The meeting reviewed the force’s performance, crime situation and professional affairs over the past six months.
According to the figures presented at the meeting, Pakistan Railways Police registered 2,241 criminal cases and arrested 2,581 suspects during the six-month period.
The IG directed officers to strengthen coordination and adopt more effective measures against criminal networks while ensuring that everyone involved in criminal activities faces legal action without discrimination. He specifically ordered officers to dismantle organized groups and networks involved in smuggling illegal goods through trains.
Sultan also directed officers to take strict legal action against private cargo companies found facilitating or participating in smuggling activities. He ordered that the licenses of companies involved in such activities be cancelled.
