Sindh Police has issued a second circular strictly prohibiting the appointment of constables as Station House Officers (SHOs) across the province on the directives of Inspector General of Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho.
The circular, issued under the signatures of Additional Inspector General of Police (Operations) Sindh Bashir Ahmed Brohi, stated that no constable should be appointed or posted as SHO of any police station in the future.
It noted that similar instructions had already been issued on May 7, 2026. However, despite the earlier directive, officials who are not authorized to hold the position continue to be appointed as SHOs at various police stations.
The circular expressed serious concern over the appointment of police constables, head constables, assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and traffic constables as SHOs.
According to the directive, such appointments violate relevant police laws, rules, regulations, and departmental procedures. It further stated that the practice undermines the police command structure, departmental discipline, accountability, and effective administrative control.
