The Punjab School Education Department is considering a proposal to upgrade 1,000 high schools across the province to higher secondary status.
The initiative aims to allow students to continue their FA and FSc education at the same institutions after completing matriculation.
As part of the process, the department has sought detailed data from high schools across Punjab. Schools will be assessed based on the availability of space, suitability of buildings, and access to essential facilities.
School heads have also been directed to submit comprehensive reports on their institutions. Officials said that no school will be upgraded without a third-party inspection.
Punjab currently has around 6,000 high schools, of which 4,800 have submitted the required data. So far, 795 schools have expressed interest in being upgraded, subject to the availability of adequate space.
