According to the Bahawalpur commissioner, the government has earmarked 83,000 acres in Cholistan for distribution, making it the largest allocation under the program. More than 16,000 eligible families are expected to receive five-acre plots.

The Punjab government has begun distributing agricultural land under its Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar initiative to support farming and create livelihood opportunities in Cholistan.

According to the Bahawalpur commissioner, the government has earmarked 83,000 acres in Cholistan for distribution, making it the largest allocation under the program. More than 16,000 eligible families are expected to receive five-acre plots.

At the launch ceremony, officials handed over allotment letters to 25 successful applicants. The Cholistan Development Authority said the scheme received 52,158 applications, of which 27,647 were approved after verification.

In the first phase, the government will allocate land to 10,290 eligible Cholistan families.

The provincial government, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, will also provide financial assistance of Rs4.25 billion under the scheme. Each beneficiary will receive Rs50,000 per acre to prepare the land, begin cultivation and cover other farming expenses.
