The Punjab government has decided to add three new cities to the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) network this year, 2026, to make the exam more accessible for students.
Mianwali, Layyah, and Bahawalnagar will host MDCAT examination centers for the first time. The decision is expected to benefit candidates from remote areas by reducing travel time and related expenses.
Authorities have directed the University of Health Sciences (UHS) to take the necessary steps to establish the three new centers before the examination.
With the latest expansion, the MDCAT will now be conducted in 15 cities across Punjab, compared with 12 cities last year. The total number of examination centers will also increase from 26 to 32.
Officials said the additional centers are aimed at making the admission process more convenient for students who previously had to travel long distances to appear in the highly competitive examination.
The MDCAT for the current academic year is scheduled to be held on August 16. Thousands of aspiring medical and dental students are expected to take the test, which is a key requirement for admission to medical and dental colleges across the province.
