The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed the newly opened Hardee’s outlet at the Sukheki Motorway Service Area after inspectors discovered multiple food safety and hygiene violations during a surprise inspection.
The inspection was conducted under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Safe Food” initiative, which targets restaurants and food businesses failing to meet health standards.
According to the PFA, the restaurant was using completely unfiltered water through an unhygienic and non-compliant reverse osmosis (RO) filtration system. Inspectors also recovered rotten vegetables, found food materials stored improperly, and detected the use of undated sauces and condiments.
Officials further cited poor sanitation in the kitchen and storage areas, describing the outlet’s hygiene standards as unsatisfactory.
The PFA immediately sealed the restaurant and imposed a heavy fine. Authorities said the outlet will remain closed until all food safety, water filtration, storage, and hygiene deficiencies are rectified and officially cleared.
The food authority emphasized that protecting consumers remains its highest priority and warned that strict action will continue against businesses violating food safety regulations.
