The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved funding to make 12 more cricket grounds operational across the country as part of its latest infrastructure push.
The decision was taken during the 84th meeting of the PCB Board of Governors in Lahore, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The board also unanimously approved the surplus budget for the financial year 2026–27.
According to reports, the funds will cover the new grounds along with the required staff and maintenance support. The move is aimed at expanding the domestic cricket structure and providing more venues for matches, training, and player development.
The approval comes as the PCB continues to focus on improving cricket facilities at both regional and major venue levels.
Earlier this month, reports said the PCB and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) were working together to upgrade several cricket grounds in Islamabad, with PCB support expected for pitch preparation, ground maintenance, and related facilities.
The board also approved Rs. 6.7 billion for infrastructure upgrades, including work at the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi and other cricket projects across Pakistan.
In another major step for domestic cricket, the PCB increased the annual domestic cricket budget from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 4 billion for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
The latest decisions show the PCB’s growing focus on strengthening cricket below the international level by improving access to proper facilities for regional teams and local players.
