The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member Pakistan men’s U19 squad for the upcoming tour of England, which begins on September 2 with a solitary Youth Test at Arundel Castle Cricket Ground.
Right-handed batter Farhan Yousaf will captain Pakistan during the tour. Farhan previously led Pakistan to the ACC U19 Asia Cup title in December last year.
Pakistan will play one Youth Test and four Youth ODIs against England during the tour.
The squad features four fast bowlers: Mohammad Sayyam, Abdul Subhan, Rizwanullah, and Umar Zaib. Left-arm wrist-spinner Mohammad Huzaifa and left-arm spinner Niqab Shafiq will provide the spin options.
Aliyan Salman, Ahmad Hussain, Jahangir Bilal, and Hayam Khan have been selected as all-rounders, while Hamza Zahoor and Abdul Qadir are the two wicketkeepers.
Farhan Yousaf, Usman Khan, and Hasnain Abbas Dar are the designated batters in the squad.
Pakistan U19 held a pre-tour training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and completed its preparations with a two-day red-ball intra-squad match on Tuesday. The team will depart for England from Lahore on Sunday, August 30.
Farhan, Abdul Subhan, Ahmad Hussain, Hamza Zahoor, Mohammad Sayyam, Mohammad Huzaifa, Niqab Shafiq, Umar Zaib, and Usman Khan have previously represented Pakistan at the U19 level. The remaining players are in line to make their international debuts.
Shahid Anwar has been appointed head coach for the tour, while Rao Iftikhar Anjum will serve as fast bowling coach, Zohaib Khan as spin bowling coach, and Humayun Farhat as fielding coach.
