The experienced left-handed batter entered the match with 4,996 international runs across formats. His tally included 1,823 runs in Tests, 3,152 in ODIs and 21 in T20Is.

The milestone made Imam the 30th Pakistani batter to score at least 5,000 runs in international cricket. He joined a list that includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Javed Miandad and Imran Khan.
Imam-ul-Haq went on to score an important 42 before being dismissed by Josh Tongue during the second session of the opening day.
The 30-year-old now has 5,038 international runs from 107 appearances at an average of 41.29. His record includes 12 centuries and 31 half-centuries.
His dismissal ended a crucial 91-run partnership for the third wicket with Abdullah Shafique.
Pakistan then suffered a brief collapse, losing two more wickets in quick succession to slip to 118/5.
At the time of filing, Pakistan had reached 127/5 after 40 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and stand-in captain Salman Ali Agha were at the crease, unbeaten on three and six, respectively.
