The Embassy of Pakistan in Oman has introduced a revised passport fee structure for Pakistani citizens, effective from May 1, 2026, along with strict penalties for lost passports.

Under the new system, applicants will pay updated fees based on passport validity and urgency.

A 5-year passport with 36 pages will cost 12 Omani Riyals under the normal category and 19 Omani Riyals for urgent processing.

Meanwhile, the fee for a 10-year passport with 36 pages will start from 17 Omani Riyals.

In addition to revised charges, the embassy has implemented a strict penalty policy for lost passports.

Applicants reporting a lost passport for the first time will be required to pay double the original fee.

In case of a second loss, the penalty will increase significantly to four times the original fee.

Officials say the new measures aim to improve accountability and discourage negligence in handling official documents.

Citizens have been advised to take extra care of their passports to avoid heavy financial penalties under the updated system.
