The main suspect in the multi-billion-rupee Palm Vista Housing scam has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates following an international manhunt coordinated through Interpol and Pakistani authorities.
According to officials, Muhammad Qasim Khan, who was wanted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore, was arrested in Abu Dhabi in response to a red notice issued through Interpol.
Authorities said UAE officials have formally requested extradition documents through diplomatic channels for his handover to Pakistan. The arrest is linked to the Palm Vista Housing scandal, in which hundreds of citizens were allegedly defrauded of more than Rs. 1.4 billion through fraudulent plot sales, false promises, and illegal housing operations.
According to NAB Lahore, at least 295 people were allegedly deprived of their savings in the scam. Some affectees claimed the accused and his associates oversold plots in a housing society spread across 205 kanals and also operated an alleged Ponzi-style investment scheme promising profits on housing investments.
Victims said they had been waiting nearly two years for the recovery of their money and urged NAB to ensure compensation for those affected.
Earlier, two directors of the housing scheme, Mahmoud Tariq and Amer Azeem, had also been arrested in connection with the case, while Muhammad Qasim Khan was allegedly operating from abroad.
NAB officials said the case was part of a broader crackdown against fraudulent housing societies and investment scams across Punjab.
