A fake UAE work visa scam has been exposed at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, where a passenger was offloaded while attempting to travel to Dubai on forged documents.
The action was taken by FIA Immigration Karachi during checks at the airport, leading to the passenger’s detention for further investigation.
According to the FIA, the passenger, identified as Syed Zillullah Ehsan-ul-Zaman, had arrived at the airport to board a flight to Dubai. During the boarding process, airline staff found that his ticket details were not available in the airline’s system, raising suspicion and prompting additional scrutiny.
Officials said a detailed examination of his travel documents later revealed that the UAE work visa he had presented was fake.
During questioning, the passenger reportedly told investigators that he himself had been defrauded and was unaware the visa was bogus. He said he had contacted an agent through social media who promised to arrange a job for him in Dubai.
The passenger claimed he paid Rs. 380,000 in cash to the agent for the job and visa.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the suspect agent was identified as Malik Shehbaz Awan, who is allegedly operating illegally in Joharabad, Khushab under the name Malik Overseas and targeting citizens with false promises of overseas employment.
The spokesperson said the passenger has been offloaded after recovery of the fake visa and transferred to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for further legal action. Authorities are also preparing a crackdown against the alleged agent, with teams being formed for his arrest in Khushab.
The case comes shortly after another visa-related fraud surfaced involving a student visa, adding to concerns over fake overseas job and travel scams targeting Pakistanis.
