Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi lost his temper during a media interaction after a journalist questioned him about the case involving two foreign women who were allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted in Lahore.

The exchange took place when the reporter asked Hashmi, a senior figure from the ruling PML-N, about the high-profile case and also raised a question linked to Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

In response, the governor snapped at the journalist and said, “Should I appoint you as the investigating officer in the Lahore foreign girls’ kidnapping case? Stay within your beat. I have studied mass communication.”

The case involves two foreign women from the Netherlands and Spain who were allegedly abducted in Lahore after a dispute linked to cryptocurrency profits. Police said the women were recovered after the father of one of them contacted the helpline from abroad and reported that $1.5 million in ransom was being demanded.

According to investigators, the women had travelled to Pakistan voluntarily after meeting the main suspect in Singapore, where discussions had reportedly taken place over crypto investment. Police allege that after they arrived in Pakistan, they were abducted and later subjected to serious abuse. One of the women alleged that her companion was raped multiple times, while an attempt was also made to assault her.

Police traced the suspects through vehicle records and CCTV footage, later recovering the women in Lahore. Four suspects have been arrested so far, while raids are underway to locate others allegedly linked to the case.

Lahore Police have said the matter will remain with them and will not be handed over to the Crime Control Department, as the sexual-offense allegations fall under the legal mechanism set up for rape investigations.
