Samsung is expected to launch two book-style foldable phones this year, likely called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name has now appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, giving more weight to recent leaks about Samsung’s revised foldable branding. The listing includes five model numbers: SC 56G, SCG39, SM F976C, SM F976Q, and SM F976Z.
Earlier leaks referred to the wider foldable as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, while the direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was expected to launch as the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Recent leaks now suggest Samsung has changed that structure. The wider model is expected to launch simply as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 successor may arrive as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Samsung has not confirmed the naming change or the final lineup yet.
The Bluetooth SIG listing does not reveal hardware specifications, but leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will pack a 5,000mAh battery and support 45W wired charging.
The phone is also rumored to weigh 215 grams and measure 4.1mm when unfolded, making it 0.1mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be the wider model that was previously called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.
Leaks suggest it will have a 4,800mAh battery, the same 45W charging speed as the Ultra model, and a lower 201 gram weight.
The phone is also expected to feature a new 50MP camera with native support for 24MP mode.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are rumored to feature much better display crease control.
The crease is expected to be close to the Oppo Find N6, which has been noted for its flatter foldable display experience.
Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 on July 22 at an event in London.
The company has not officially announced the event or confirmed any of the new foldable phones yet.
