The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched a large scale operation against illegal housing schemes and unauthorized commercial properties across the city on the directives of Director General Tahir Farooq.
According to an LDA spokesperson, enforcement teams from the Directorate of Metropolitan Planning-IV took action against 14 illegal housing schemes in different areas of Lahore. During the operation, officials demolished roads, boundary walls, sewerage systems and other illegally developed infrastructure, while also sealing site offices.
The action targeted several unauthorized housing projects, including Al Kabir Garden, Ammar Avenue, Canal View Farms, Ayan City Phases I and II, Ali Garden, Grand Bazaar, Kashmir Garden, New Nathoki Abadi, Ahmed Garden, Pak Homes, Mughal Homes, Suleman City, Heaven City, Al Hammad Meadows, Royal Villas and BM Estate, also known as Muhafiz City.
In a separate operation, LDA Town Planning teams sealed 73 properties for illegal commercial use in Gulberg, Faisal Town, New Muslim Town, Samanabad and Allama Iqbal Town.
The sealed properties included private schools, pharmacies, clinics, grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, food outlets, auto workshops, shops and offices that were operating in violation of land use regulations. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Chief Metropolitan Planner and Chief Town Planner-I Asad uz Zaman.
