The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has allowed hunting of Russian pigeons on three days a week from September 1 to October 31, 2026.

According to the notification, hunting will be permitted only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and hunters will be required to obtain a Small Game Shooting Licence.

A hunter will be allowed to hunt a maximum of eight Russian pigeons per day. A fine of Rs5,000 per pigeon will be imposed for hunting beyond the prescribed limit.

Hunting of Russian pigeons will be allowed across the province. However, hunting before sunrise and after sunset will be prohibited.

Action will be taken against those hunting without a licence or on days other than those specified.

The Wildlife Department will continue monitoring the Russian pigeon population and may suspend hunting immediately if a decline in numbers is observed.
