Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Khaleeq-ur-Rehman on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a six-storey girls’ hostel at Khyber College of Dentistry, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs133.66 million.
The 28-room hostel will be constructed from the college’s own budget and is aimed at improving residential facilities for female students and providing them with a secure and supportive environment for education and professional growth.
Speaking at the ceremony, the health minister said the project was more than just the construction of a building and reflected the government’s commitment to quality education, women’s empowerment and better facilities for female students.
He praised KCD for its role in promoting academic excellence, research, digital dentistry and community-oriented dental services.
The minister said investment in educational infrastructure was essential for preparing skilled and competent healthcare professionals for the future.
During his visit, he inspected different departments and dental sections of the college and reviewed the facilities and services available to patients and students.
KCD Dean Prof Dr Syed Nasir Shah briefed him on the college’s academic and clinical activities, available facilities and operational procedures.
The minister directed the administration to maintain high standards of patient care, academic training and institutional management, and to ensure a safe, healthy and conducive learning environment for students.
He said continued development of KCD would help strengthen dental education and healthcare services in the province and create better opportunities for aspiring dental professionals.
