Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday inaugurated the one-kilometer-long Faiz Ahmed Faiz Flyover in Sialkot’s Adalat Garha area, a project completed at a cost of Rs. 1.984 billion.

Punjab Labour Minister Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt, MPA Chaudhry Faisal Ikram, Deputy Commissioner Owais Mushtaq, and other officials attended the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking to reporters, Khawaja Asif said the flyover would ease traffic congestion and improve travel for residents of Sialkot and nearby areas. He described the project as a long-standing public demand and thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for ensuring its completion.

The minister also announced that work on the first phase of the Sialkot Ring Road will begin soon. The project will connect Wazirabad Road, Daska Road, Eminabad Road, and Pasrur Road, improving traffic flow across the city.

He said the newly inaugurated flyover will eventually link with the Ring Road, making travel easier, supporting industrial growth, and improving access to Sialkot International Airport.

Khawaja Asif also announced that the Rs. 250 billion Kharian-Rawat Motorway project has been awarded to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). He described it as a major infrastructure project that will strengthen regional economic development and national defense.
