Police on Thursday arrested 23 suspects during a crackdown on illegal shisha cafes and guest houses in DHA, Clifton, Boat Basin, Darakshan, and Gizri areas.
Officials said police seized hookahs, flavors, and other banned items during multiple raids. Boat Basin police raided a property in Clifton Block-5, arrested three suspects, and recovered seven hookahs.
Meanwhile, Darakshan and Gizri police raided several illegal guest houses and hookah bars, arresting 11 suspects, including four women.
Police alleged that one of the detained women supplied Ice (methamphetamine) at dance parties. Authorities registered cases against all arrested suspects.
In a separate operation, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) claimed to have busted a gang involved in street crimes in Karachi.
According to a Rangers statement, personnel conducted raids in Niaz Manzil and North Nazimabad after receiving a tip-off and arrested five suspects linked to the gang.
The arrested men were identified as Gulfam alias Sunny, Mohammed Shan, Daud, Ashraf alias Pannu, and Ismail Mikael. Rangers recovered one unlicensed 30-bore pistol, two 9mm pistols, five mobile phones, and cash from their possession.
