The Austrian Academy of Sciences has announced the opening of applications for its Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities (JESH) program, which promotes academic cooperation between early-career researchers from abroad and scholars in Austria.
The program is designed for researchers with a maximum of 10 years of experience after completing their PhD and supports international research exchange through short-term academic visits.
JESH offers both incoming and outgoing mobility schemes. The incoming program allows researchers from 61 eligible countries to conduct research at Austrian public universities, institutes of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and other publicly funded research institutions.
The outgoing program enables Austrian researchers to undertake research stays in partner institutions abroad, including public universities, national academies of sciences, and research organizations.
Selected researchers receive funding for research stays ranging from 1 to 6 months, depending on the project requirements and host institution agreement.
The initiative aims to strengthen global scientific collaboration and foster knowledge exchange across disciplines in science and the humanities.
The deadline for applications is July 7, 2026.
