The traders’ community in Islamabad has urged the government to relax lockdown restrictions in the federal capital, similar to the measures adopted in various provinces.
Business leaders said traders have consistently supported government policies and cooperated during difficult times to protect the country’s interests.
Former Traders Welfare Association Super Market president Sarfraz Mughal said the government imposed the lockdown without consulting businessmen, though the trading community accepted the decision in the national interest.
He stressed that authorities should seriously address the problems faced by traders and take immediate steps to support businesses affected by restrictions.
Mughal added that several prominent business leaders, including Federation of Pakistan President Atif Ikram, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sardar Tahir, Ajmal Baloch, Kashif Chaudhry, and Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders President Sheikh Tayyab, have also demanded easing lockdown measures in Islamabad.
