Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry announced 20 internship opportunities for students of Bahria University while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Media Fest Spring 2026.

He stressed the need for responsible journalism to counter misinformation and promote a positive image of Pakistan.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, he said the government was committed to bringing youth into the professional arena through practical opportunities in the media sector.

Barrister Danyal described media as “a sacred national trust” rather than an ordinary profession, saying nations that use truth as their strength were the ones that shape history.

He said that in an age dominated by misinformation and negative narratives, responsible and conscious journalism had become essential for society.

“A single truthful and honest news story has the power to transform the thinking of an entire nation,” he remarked while addressing students, faculty members and media professionals attending the festival.

The parliamentary secretary acknowledged the contribution of Bahria University graduates serving in leading television channels and public media organizations and praised platforms such as Media Fest for encouraging creative thinking, innovation and constructive expression among young people.

Highlighting the country’s demographic landscape, he said more than 60 percent of Pakistan’s population comprised youth, adding that today’s media students would become tomorrow’s journalists, producers and opinion leaders responsible for projecting Pakistan’s true image globally.

Barrister Danyal urged students to focus on the social impact of their work instead of pursuing ratings and viral trends, saying meaningful journalism aimed at positive social change was the real measure of success.

Referring to recent national developments, he said that alongside the role played by Pakistan’s armed forces, television channels and social media platforms had also acted responsibly in strengthening the national narrative, demonstrating the constructive role of Pakistani media during critical times.

He further informed the audience that Pakistan Television Corporation was already running internship programs for students and that the government was working to expand such initiatives to create greater opportunities for aspiring media professionals across the country.
