Huawei has officially introduced the second-generation MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. The premium foldable laptop brings a new Kirin processor, an improved hinge, HarmonyOS 6.1, and support for Huawei’s latest AI-powered M-Pencil stylus.
Huawei has retained the 18-inch dual-layer OLED display from the original model. Once folded, the device becomes roughly the size of a conventional 13-inch laptop, making it easier to carry inside a bag.
The foldable display offers a 3.3K resolution, LTPO adaptive refresh-rate technology, HDR support, and up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness. Its narrow borders also provide a 92% screen-to-body ratio.
Huawei has redesigned the waterdrop hinge using zirconium-based liquid-metal components. The company says the larger hinge improves durability while making the screen smoother to open and close.
The rear uses a silicone-coated vegan leather finish, while an integrated kickstand allows the device to stand upright when used with external accessories.
The new Kirin X90 Plus processor replaces the chip used in the previous generation. Huawei claims the processor delivers around 25% smoother performance and operates at a 28W TDP.
The laptop comes with up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage.
Huawei has also installed an ultra-thin vapor chamber cooling system. The company says this solution helps maintain performance and reduces slowdowns during demanding workloads.
The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design runs HarmonyOS 6.1 and supports tablet, laptop, and desktop operating modes.
When users partially fold the device, the lower section of the screen can function as a virtual keyboard and touchpad.
Huawei has also added support for a new AI-powered M-Pencil stylus designed for handwriting, taking notes, and sketching.
An 8MP front-facing camera handles video calls and other camera-based tasks.
The laptop uses a dual-cell battery and supports 140W wired fast charging.
Huawei offers three configurations: 24GB/512GB, 24GB/1TB, and 32GB/2TB. Prices begin at approximately $3,700, while the highest-end model costs around $4,440.
Huawei has announced the second-generation MateBook Fold Ultimate Design only for China. The company has not confirmed plans for a wider release.
