Huawei has introduced the nova 16 and nova 16z in China alongside the nova 16 Ultra and nova 16 Pro. The nova 16z is the entry-level model in the series, while the nova 16 sits above it with a more powerful Kirin 9010S chipset, a larger 7,000mAh battery, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with up to 100x digital zoom.

The Huawei nova 16 features a 6.68-inch OLED display with a 2800 x 1280 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It also comes with IP65-rated protection and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei nova 16z has a 6.7-inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Nova 16 is available in Sky Blue, White, and Starry Black. The Nova 16z comes in White, Green, and Black.

The Huawei nova 16 is powered by the Kirin 9010S chipset. It supports two-way BeiDou satellite messaging, Bluetooth 6.0, Wi Fi 7, infrared remote control, NFC, and Star Flash connectivity.

The Huawei nova 16z uses the Kirin 8020 chipset. It also includes satellite messaging support, stereo speakers, infrared remote control, NFC, and Star Flash connectivity.

Both phones run HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box. Huawei has also added AI-powered image editing, AI-assisted composition, HDR Vivid video recording, and several on-device AI features through its Xiaoyi assistant ecosystem.

The Huawei nova 16 has a 50MP main camera, a 50MP RYYB periscope telephoto camera with OIS, and a Red Maple color sensor. The periscope telephoto camera supports up to 100x digital zoom.

For selfies and video calls, the nova 16 has a 50MP front camera.

The Huawei nova 16 packs a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging support. Its 256GB model is priced at $418, while the 512GB version costs $488. The 1TB model is priced at $558.

The Huawei nova 16z comes with a 6,000mAh battery and 100W charging support. Its 256GB version starts at $335, while the 512GB model costs $390.

Huawei has not yet shared international availability details for either smartphone.
